Noeline Fernando

Noeline Fernando was a painter and a devoted teacher. She studied under Cora Abraham at the Melbourne Art School in Colombo and belonged to the Young Artists Group that grew up in the wake of the ’43 Group. Her own painting kept a melancholic register carried in bold colour.

Much of her life went to teaching, at the Sapumal Foundation and among underprivileged children on the southern coast. She died in 2020.
