Noeline Fernando

Noeline Fernando was a painter and a devoted teacher. She studied under Cora Abraham at the Melbourne Art School in Colombo and came up among the generation of women painters that followed the ’43 Group. Her own painting kept a melancholic register carried in bold colour.

Much of her life went to teaching, at the Sapumal Foundation and among underprivileged children on the southern coast.
