Suriyagoda

The Suriyagoda Rajamaha Vihara, near Kandy, is another of the tempita shrines of the hill country, its image house raised on pillars and carrying murals in the full Kandyan manner. The paintings are associated with the workshop of Deldeniya Sittara Naide, the southern-school master, and they set the temple among the works by which the named Sittara are remembered.

Its combination of the tempita form with a complete Kandyan painted interior has made it a model example of the tradition.
